He said that the government’s assurance to those who lost everything in the landslide disaster is being fulfilled. “We decided then that Kerala will stand united and rehabilitate those who lost everything in the landslide. Those words have become reality. This is an achievement that marks ten years of work for the belief that the government is not about making promises, but about implementing them.”

The government has acquired 64.4705 hectares of land in Elston Estate, Kalpetta Village, to build a township to rehabilitate the Wayanad landslide disaster victims. The land acquisition was made with the aim of providing a safe place for the survivors to live. Construction work began the next day after the land was acquired. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan laid the foundation stone of the township on March 27, 2025.

The houses are being provided in the first phase to families who have completely lost their residences in the disaster. The single-storey buildings, measuring 1,000 square feet, are designed to survive natural disasters and have foundations for a two-storey building. The main bedroom, two rooms, a sit-out, living room, study room, dining room, kitchen and store area are included as part of the house.
